Characteristics and clinicodiagnostic value of elastase determination from pancreatic gland and polymorphonuclear leucocytes
Elastases have attracted interest in the last decade, which is primarily accounted for by their active participation in the development of different diseases of inflammatory genesis and by high clinicodiagnostic informativity of these proteinase determination with many pathological processes. Elastase determination is known to have specific diagnostic and predictive value by chronic and acute pancreatitis, sepsis, septic shock, DIC-syndrome and other critical states. This is largely explained by the elastase high catalytic activity and wide range of proteins, which are exposed to proteolysis and lose their biological properties under the action of these enzymes. One can suggest, that elastases have the potential of new markers, and, in some instances, "gold standards" by detection of acute and\or chronic inflammation of different etiology.
